The Figma Community problem

Figma Community was a way to distribute templates and UI kits for free or at low prices. It was never designed for serious digital product monetization: limited pricing control, limited buyer data, no storefront customization, and Figma controls the whole relationship.

The more effective model: sell directly. You own the buyer relationship, you set the price, you keep 95.5% of every sale. Your file stays exactly where it is on Figma — you just add a payment gate in front of the share link.

Any Figma link works

Shared file links, prototype links, or Figma Community URLs. If it has a URL and 'anyone with link can view', you can sell it.

Instant access after payment

The moment Stripe confirms payment, buyers see your Figma link on screen and receive it by email. No manual delivery, no DMs, no waiting.

Updates go to all buyers automatically

When you update your Figma file, all buyers who have the link automatically get the latest version. No re-uploading, no re-sending.

What Figma products sell well

UI kits and component libraries

Full design systems, component libraries, or focused kits (dashboards, e-commerce, mobile apps). Price range: $29–$149. Value comes from the depth of coverage and how production-ready the components are.

Icon sets and illustration packs

Custom icon families, illustration styles, or themed asset sets. Price range: $15–$79. Buyers want consistent style and broad coverage — aim for 100+ icons minimum.

Templates for specific use cases

Landing page templates, mobile app UIs, SaaS dashboard layouts, presentation decks. Price range: $19–$89. The more specific the use case (e.g. "B2B SaaS pricing page kit"), the better it converts.

Design systems and style guides

More complete than a UI kit — includes tokens, spacing, typography, color palettes, and documentation. Price range: $49–$299. These take longer to produce but justify higher prices.

Wireframe and prototyping kits

Low-fidelity wireframe libraries for rapid prototyping. Price range: $19–$59. Popular with UX designers who need to move fast before high-fidelity work.

How to prepare your Figma file for selling

01

Organize and name your file clearly

Use a logical page structure. Name your frames, components, and layers as if a stranger is using it. Buyers who can't find things leave bad reviews and ask for refunds. A 'Start here' page or cover frame helps.

02

Set sharing to 'Anyone with the link can view'

In your Figma file, click Share in the top right. Change the permission to 'Anyone with the link' and set it to 'can view'. This is the URL you will paywall — never 'can edit'.

03

Copy the file URL

The share link looks like: figma.com/design/... Copy it exactly. This is what buyers receive after payment.

04

Create your paywall on unseal.link

Paste the Figma link, write a title and short description, set your price, add a preview image (a screenshot of your best-looking frame). Enable payouts when ready — we create your payment account in 2 minutes, no prior Stripe account needed.

05

Share your paywall link

Post it on Twitter, Dribbble, Behance, your portfolio, your newsletter, or anywhere your audience is. The paywall link works everywhere a URL works.

Keep 95.5%

We take a 4.5% platform fee. Stripe fees apply separately. No monthly plans, no hidden cuts.

Pricing your Figma template

A few principles that hold across Figma products:

Anchor on hours saved, not effort spent. A dashboard UI kit that saves a designer 20 hours is worth $49–$99 regardless of how long it took you to make.

Start higher than you think. Most first-time sellers underprice. A $29 template and a $79 template convert similarly — buyers are already spending time researching and evaluating. The price is rarely the deciding factor for buyers who like your style.

Preview image is the real conversion lever. Your paywall description helps, but buyers decide on the screenshot. Show your best work — the densest, most polished frame in your file.

How this compares to the alternatives

Gumroad

Gumroad works for Figma files but requires you to export and upload a file. If you update your design, you need to re-export and re-upload. Buyers download a static snapshot, not a live Figma link. Plus 10% fee vs. 4.5%.

Figma Community

Limited pricing flexibility, Figma controls discovery, and you can't reach buyers outside the platform. Better for free distribution to grow an audience than for monetization.

Direct invoice or DM

Works for one-off sales but doesn't scale. Every sale requires manual effort. No scalable paywall link you can share indefinitely.

Frequently asked

Do buyers need a Figma account to view the file?

Yes — to view a Figma file, buyers need a Figma account (free accounts work). You provide the link; accessing it is between them and Figma. Almost every designer already has one.

What stops buyers from sharing the file link?

Keep your file set to 'can view' — this prevents editing or duplicating to their drafts without your permission. For extra protection, you can rotate the share link periodically, which invalidates any previously shared copies.

Can I sell a file where buyers get an editable copy?

Yes. If you want buyers to duplicate the file to their drafts, share the Figma Community 'Duplicate to your drafts' link instead of the regular share link. Buyers get their own editable copy; you retain control of the original.

Can I sell Figma plugins or variables libraries?

If it has a shareable Figma URL, yes. For Figma Community plugin pages, paste the Community URL. For private variables libraries shared via link, the same workflow applies.

What if I update my file after selling it?

All buyers who have the link automatically see the updated version — because the link points to your live Figma file, not a static download. You never need to re-send or re-upload.

Can I sell multiple templates?

Yes. Create a separate paywall product for each template. Each gets its own link, its own price, and its own preview. Manage all of them from your dashboard.

Do I need a storefront?

No. Each product has its own paywall link. Share them individually wherever you have an audience. If you want a single hub, link to all your paywall URLs from your portfolio or bio link.
